USB Security

If you own a computer center or simply if your computer is shared with other people, then you have to proper protect it from viruses, spyware, malware and related malicious objects. An antivirus software sometimes may be not enough, as new viruses are launched every day. A proper antivirus can block certain websites that contain viruses, but this is not enough. USB memory devices usually carry a lot of viruses because they are used to transport data from a computer to another and thus they can get viruses from anywhere. A solution in this case would be using a software that can protect the USB port, not allowing the user to insert USB storage devices into the computer. Such a program is USB Security. As the name states, the program can secure any USB port with a password to forbid access to it if the right password is not entered.

The program installs in a very short time and supports most computer configurations, no matter if we are talking about desktop computers or laptops. It can run on most versions of Microsoft Windows.

The software doesn't need much configuring, it only requires the user to enter a master password for protecting the USB port. After completing this step, anytime a user plugs in a USB device, the program will ask for the master password in order to allow access to that USB device. Protect Folder can be set to allow some USB devices without asking for a password, for example the owner's USB memory stick.

Protect Folder includes a log feature and a viewer, for displaying all the attempts to connect an USB device to the computer. One cannot delete the program to make the USB port unprotected, as this action also requires entering the master password.
